Electrophysiology studies AV node ablation

  • This procedure involves the use of 3 catheters to correct arrhythmias in the heart that cannot be treated with medicine.
  • An electrode catheter is inserted into the right atrium along the wall.
  • A mapping catheter is also inserted into the same chamber.
  • An arrhythmia is induced by the electrode catheter.
  • The mapping catheter maps the electrical pathway created by the arrhythmia.
  • An ablation catheter is inserted into the right atrium and ablates the mapped regions.
