Perform an angiogram to locate the sites of calcification in the arteries – they appear as shadows or “ghost-like” stenoses.
IVUS or OCT transducer wires can be inserted along the guidewire to get a better perspective of the occlusions.
Remove the transducer wire and insert the wire with the ablation/ rotablator device into the artery and navigate it to the sight of stenosis.
When the rotablator is properly positioned in the vessel, run the device along the site of the stenosis.
Remove the device and inject contrast media into the introducer sheath and guide catheter to get another angiographic image of the arteries to make sure the vessels are adequately opened.
An FFR transducer can also be used to ensure the blood flow of the artery is appropriate.
