Atrial Fibrillation

 

  • Chaotic electrical impulses in the atria that causes rapid, uncoordinated, weak contractions of the atria. 
  • These impulses bombard the AV node, usually resulting in an irregular, rapid rhythm of the ventricles. 
  • It may be temporary, but some episodes will not end unless treated. 
  • May lead to serious complications such as stroke.
