Cyanotic Heart Defect
Defects that allow the oxygenated and deoxygenated blood to mix.
Less oxygenated blood reaches the tissue of the body.
Results in bluish/purplish tint – cyanosis – to the skin, lips and nails.
This defect includes:
Tetralogy of Fallot
Transposition of the great vessels
Pulmonary atresia
Total anomalous pulmonary venous return
Hypoplastic left heart syndrome
Tricuspid valve abnormalities
